Product description

A genuine Windows Server 2022 Standard product key, a 32-core Windows Server 2022 license delivered to your inbox in about 60 seconds. It activates online with Microsoft, covers one physical server plus two Windows Server virtual machines, and gets Microsoft security updates until 14 October 2031. One server is $120.00; three servers are $199.99 and five are $299.99. It is the right key for hosts with 25 to 32 physical cores, where a 24-core licence would leave cores unlicensed. If your key hasn’t been used or won’t activate, you get a full refund within 30 days.

How Windows Server 2022 activation works

  1. Download the Windows Server 2022 installation media from Microsoft and install Standard edition. If you installed from Microsoft’s 180-day evaluation media, convert it first with DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula, because slmgr /ipk will not accept a retail key on an evaluation install. Our Windows Server 2022 download, install and activate guide walks through every screen.
  2. Open an elevated Command Prompt and run slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX with the key from your email, then slmgr /ato. On Desktop Experience you can use Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change product key instead.
  3. Windows Server contacts Microsoft’s activation servers and reports Windows is activated. No phone call, no third-party tool.
  4. Stuck on an error? Reply to your order email and the support team sorts it out.

Which Windows Server 2022 licence do I need?

Your server Buy this
25 to 32 physical cores (for example 2 × 16), 0 to 2 VMs This 32-core Standard key
Up to 24 physical cores, 0 to 2 VMs (file server, domain controller, small Hyper-V pair) Windows Server 2022 Standard 24 Core ($49.99)
Up to 24 cores and more than 2 VMs on the host Windows Server 2022 Datacenter 24 Core
New deployment that wants support to November 2034 (hotpatching optional, via a paid Azure Arc subscription) Windows Server 2025 Standard 24 Core

Still unsure between the editions? The Standard vs Datacenter guide settles it in one question.

Windows Server 2022 Standard system requirements

Microsoft’s published minimums are a 1.4 GHz 64-bit processor with NX/DEP, SLAT, SSE4.2 and POPCNT support, 512 MB of RAM (2 GB for Desktop Experience), 32 GB of disk and a Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Secured-core features such as virtualization-based security need TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and an IOMMU.

Windows Server 2022 Standard 32 Core FAQs

Is this a Windows Server 2022 Standard key or a Datacenter key?

Standard. It licenses the physical server plus two Windows Server virtual machines. If you plan more than two VMs on the host, the Datacenter 24-core key has no VM limit; for hosts above 24 cores, contact support for Datacenter core options.

How many cores does this Windows Server 2022 licence cover?

32 physical cores on one server. Microsoft licenses Windows Server per core and every physical core must be covered, so a dual-socket host with two 16-core processors needs exactly this key. If your server has 24 cores or fewer, the 24-core key at $49.99 is the cheaper buy.

Do I need CALs as well as this key?

Yes. The server licence covers the operating system; every user or device that accesses it needs a Windows Server CAL, and anyone connecting over Remote Desktop needs an RDS CAL too. Our Windows Server licensing guide has the worked examples.

How long is Windows Server 2022 supported?

Mainstream support ended on 13 October 2026; extended support with security updates runs until 14 October 2031. If you want the longest runway, Windows Server 2025 Standard is supported until 14 November 2034.

Can I use the key on more than one server?

No. One key activates one server. The 3-server and 5-server options give you three or five separate keys, working out at $66.66 or $60.00 per server against $120.00 for one; the licence stays with the machine each key activates on, and reinstalling on that same machine is fine.

Where do I download Windows Server 2022?

From Microsoft. The download, install and activate guide links Microsoft’s own media and shows where the key goes. Avoid installation media from any source other than Microsoft.
